Principal's Message

November 30, 2015

Dear Center School Families,

What a wonderful All School Meeting last week led by Mrs. Keough’s 1st Grade classroom!  We had plenty to celebrate as we worked together this month by donating enough food to provide thirty-one Thanksgiving dinners to members of bigger Stow community.  The celebration was paired with the next challenge to donate winter weather clothing next month.  My prediction is that we will have even more to celebrate at our next ASM on December 23rd at 1:30pm.  We hope you can join us.

In looking back over the last month we also had great attendance for parent-teacher conferences.  We also appreciate the numerous families that stopped by the book fair organized by Mrs. Erle.  As a result, over $5,000 towards books and other library needs was raised.  Mrs. Mayotte also deserves our thanks as she organized and presented our first Center School Astronomy Night.  It was well attended and the skies could not have been clearer.

Some important notes and updates:

  • The fingerprinting policy is being adjusted.  Grade levels will consult with administration regarding chaperone requirements prior to field trip approval.  Permissions slips will indicate whether or not chaperones need fingerprinting.  To be proactive, I would continue to recommend that any potential chaperones be fingerprinted.  Information on this process is still available at http://center.nrsd.net/UserFiles/Servers/Server_1160865/File/Families/chaperone.fingerprinting.memo.pdf

  • Our School Spirit Days for December:

    • Friday 12/11- Green and Gold Day- wear school colors or Nashoba gear

    • Wednesday 12/23- Winter Day- wear a winter hat, holiday sweater, or other winter related item

  • Please access our “Community News” under the “News” drop-down on our new website.  This will contain community flyers and updates.  You can also bookmark the direct link http://center.nrsd.net/news/what_s_new/stow_community_news

In December, we only have seventeen instructional days left in 2015.  This can be a very exciting, and overwhelming, time of year for children and adults alike.  Here’s to making the most of all the family time and special memories that come from this time of year.
